International Women’s Day Event from SOLAS

SOLAS recently held an event to mark International Women’s Day.  8th March 2018

This global event celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and provides an opportunity to encourage everyone to support gender parity.  The theme for this year was ‘Press for Progress’. SOLAS invited female PLC students and apprentices along with women working in the FET sector to a morning event with the aim of inspiring a generation of young women to be leaders of the future. A number of guest speakers also spoke about their journey from FET through to successful careers’.

FOUR KEY SPEAKERS FOR THE EVENT INCLUDED:

  1. Margaret Reilly – Managing Director, Grand Designs Kitchens & Bedrooms and former apprentice
  2. Moira Walsh – Director Human Resources & Staff Relations, SOLAS
  3. Gillian Brien – Youth Work Manager, BeLongTo and former Liberties College PLC student
  4. Nikki Gallagher – Director Communications & Secretariat SOLAS
