Snap-Shot View of Our Pharma & Biopharma Skills Development Work

Chaired by Kyran Johnson, GM, Janssen, the inaugural round-table for the South-West Regional Skills Pharma & Biopharma Sector took place in March 2017, in collaboration with Biopharmachem Ireland where 20+ Cork & Kerry companies agreed a priority action plan for their sector to address key priorities for growth including:

Addressing the Validation Challenge

Validation experts from across pharma/biopharma & inter-linked engineering companies are now co-developing focused programme solutions at both graduate pipelining & upskilling levels with the support of science and process & chemical engineering departments in UCC, CIT and IT Tralee specifically targeting existing and projected validation skills needs as identified by companies. Programmes will be made available through a number of pathways to ensure optimum access opportunities across target groups.

Professional Effectiveness Skills, Apprenticeships & Career Promotions also under the spotlight...

Further priorities agreed and being progressed include a pilot initiative focused on strengthening industry/education partnership approaches to soft/professional effectiveness skills; and led by BPCI, the scoping out of apprenticeship opportunities  and career promotions campaign show-casing opportunities across the sector.
